Ocean Flux publishes models, literature syntheses, and interactive explorers so visitors can see ocean nutrient fluxes and how assumptions change outcomes. That work is for teaching, exploration, and open collaboration — not for issuing verified carbon credits.
Transparency and debate
We aim for transparency. Critique, correction, and scientific debate are welcome. If you disagree with a framing, range, or label on this site, say so — that feedback helps the work get better.
Models are assumptions
Unless a number is labeled Fact with a cited source, treat parameters, ranges, and outputs as Assumption, Founder report, or Unknown. Interactive sliders and “recommended ranges” are sensitivity tools, not measurements of a specific ocean patch.
Science spans log-order extremes
Published estimates for biogenic iron recycling, fisheries extractions, and related fluxes often differ by orders of magnitude. Our Flux Explorer is built to show that span on log-friendly scales — not to pick a single “precise” global number for sale.
What this is not
- Not a carbon-credit calculator or offtake prospectus
- Not commercial ocean iron fertilisation as a service
- Not a regulatory permit, EA, or field-dosing playbook
Report mistakes, bugs, or questions
Email mistakes, site bugs, modelling issues, or inquiries to [email protected]. Reports are reviewed and filtered (spam, abuse, and off-topic mail may be discarded; substantive critique and bug reports are kept).

Ocean Flux is currently a personal project. We seek collaborators and may rely on voluntary donations to keep teaching tools and research prep going. We do not list named partner organisations on this site. Carbon remains unmonetized until published MRV earns any commercial claim.
